Your approach having the folder reachable by various systems is the best, I do the same. Myself a long term OE user, have found methods to keep the dbx uncorrupted and all compressible without error messages and even when handling hundreds of thousands of messages.
Kudos and thanks to Rafael for his great work!

I have windows 10 updates turned off yet windows keeps reminding me to update. I can't seem to turn updates off no matter what I do. I don't know what to do anymore. Help.

What if the tool shows that windows updates are disabled yet windows still is trying to update?

RE: Outlook Express & Windows 10 Update - Rafael - 08-19-2018

You may try last version of windows 10 update disabler tool:
http://www.site2unblock.com/win-updates-disabler/

normally it will disable updates

Thanks, I just downloaded and executed it.  It appears to be similar to what I already have but hopefully will work better.

I found my windows updates changed from disabled to manual. I was getting all kinds of intrusive messages on updating windows 10. I called Dell and they said there is nothing I can do to stop the updates. Right now when I try to turn off the machine it wants me to choose update instead. I am so sick of Windows 10 always trying to update. Windows update disabler 1.4 is turned on so why am I getting all these notifications that Windows 10 will be updating? Anything more that I can do?

cor123.
You can backup oe, Update and then restore.
Unfortunately this is the best solution..

RE: Outlook Express & Windows 10 Update - cor123 - 08-23-2018

Do you mean backup the data files only or the entire program?

RE: Outlook Express & Windows 10 Update - Rafael - 08-26-2018

Only DBX files.
You may also buckup the email account settings. There is a button to export account settings in .IAF format so you can import it easily after updates.
